Councillor for Dublin’s North Inner City and Social Democrat candidate for Dublin Central in the 2016 general election, he was born in Dublin’s North inner City, the same ward for which he is now a councillor. He was motivated to engage with education after he was let go from his plumbing apprenticeship during the Celtic Tiger. He was enormously privileged to enter Trinity College through its wonderful access programme (TAP), and while there he began to think in ways that could be considered political. His undergraduate course was in History & Political Science. After TCD he was a Career Guidance Advocate for early school leavers in the North Inner City. As he was hired in a temporary capacity, this role ended after a year but it fortified his convictions that he still wished to be an advocate for a community that he will always recognise as his own.
