Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade, and Deputy Leader of Fine Gael since June 2017. He was elected to Dáil Éireann in a by-election for Cork South Central in October 1998, following the death of his father Hugh. Elected to the European Parliament from 2004 to 2007. Led the Sail Chernobyl Project 30,000 miles around the world, raising £500,000 for the charity. Previously served as Minister for Housing, Planning, Community and Local Government, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine and Minister for Defence.
