Dr Katy Hayward is Reader in Sociology and a Fellow of the Senator George Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security & Justice at Queen’s University Belfast. 

A political sociologist, her research has covered various aspects of conflict and conflict transformation on the island of Ireland, with a particular focus on the Irish border and European integration. She is the author of over 180 publications, including the co-edited book Dynamics of Political Change in Ireland (2017). Katy has presented widely on the topic of Brexit to public, policy, media and academic audiences and has given evidence before parliamentary committees in the UK and Ireland. She is a non-executive Board Member of the Centre for Cross Border Studies and Conciliation Resources.
