Evan McGarrigle is a highly regarded musician and teacher. He gained his passion for music from Noreen Thomas in his native Donegal town. His training also included the guidance of Mrs Eileen Carr and he was a member of the Donegal Youth Orchestra under the baton of the late Jim Rafferty. Evan holds a B.Mus.Ed from Trinity College Dublin and he is a graduate of the Royal Irish Academy where he studied with Reamonn Keary. He has played in Ireland’s most acclaimed venues and has been well received in concert in the UK and USA. He has accompanied and occasionally directed the prestigious Bluestack Chorale as well as the Donegal Youth Choir. Evan has been on stage with renowned artists across all genres and has also played for musicals across the North-West including the Mountcharles Opera Festival. The Evan McGarrigle School of Music in Carrick, Co Donegal was founded in 2010 and many of its students have enjoyed exceptional success. Evan is currently undertaking an ambitious project to create and self-publish a series of twelve bilingual lesson books (beginner to advanced level).
