Finance spokesperson for Sinn Féin and TD for Donegal South West. A founding member of Ógra Shinn Féin, serving on its National Executive between 1998 and 2001, he is currently a member of the Ard Comhairle of the party. Became Sinn Fein’s first senator when elected to the Seanad agricultural panel in 2007 and elected TD in 2010. Member of Donegal County Council from 2004 to 2007. Keen to address the problems facing ordinary people, Pearse completed a report Awakening the West during his time as a Senator, which focused on the marginalisation of western counties and proposals for the development of the region.  As Finance spokesperson, he is responsible for the preparation of the party’s annual alternative budget submission, which aims to promote a fairer and progressive economy. A member of Guth na Gaeltachta and a fluent Irish speaker, he is a keen advocate of the Irish Language and the development of the Gaeltacht regions.
